Colorful Cagetopia

Welcome to a Piggy Wonderland

We help you to take things to the next level with a cage that's fun, spacious, easy to clean and packed with stylish organization underneath. Piggies will love zooming through this colorful XL (2x5 grid) Cage up to their very own OFFSET Roomie Zoomie Wide Loft Loop. Our Cavy Cafe kitchen provides a separate eating area and helps keep your fleece bedding cleaner. Add colorful bedding and accessories in the Bold Dots/Medium Blue fleece collection from Guinea Pig Market to create your own Colorful Cagetopia!

The XL (2x5 grid) cage is recommended for 2-4 female guinea pigs or 2 male guinea pigs.

AS SHOWN, this cage is 7.5 FEET long (90 inches). IF you make it bigger by one grid, it will be almost 9 FEET long (about 105 inches). All C&C cages are 30" (2.5 FEET) wide.

Roomie Zoomie™ Wide Loop Loft Benefits

  • Double Ramps ~ allow for fast, full zoomies up and around the loft and are HIGHLY recommended for males who should always have escape routes. Providing two ramps ensures that bickering piggies have an easy way to retreat without getting trapped by the aggressor.
  • Step-Up Piggy Fitness ~ the additional exercise provided by going up and down the ramps is EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL. Especially for males, it helps keep those butt muscles toned which can help prevent impaction as they age. In addition, climbing helps ALL guinea pigs with their digestive systems, their internal organs, their stamina and strength and their overall health and happiness.
  • Easy Access When OFFSET ~ We strongly encourage that all Wide Lofts be OFFSET (positioned halfway over the edge of the cage by using our offset kit). This allows for easy cleaning and piggy retrieval under the loft. Without the optional Offset Kit, it's quite difficult to reach all the way under the wide loft when needed.

Storage Never Looked So Good

Our optional Cage Stands raise the cage to about 15" off the floor, which means easier access, easier cleaning and less drafts for your piggies. Our cage stands also provide a convenient way to add storage with our stylish Cage Cubby Storage Bins.

The STAND for the Bigger Jumbo Version:

To go to a JUMBO instead of an XL size, you'll need to extend the cage stand by one grid into a 2x7-sized stand:

OR you can do the Cantilever style (as explained here) on the offset and NOT have the space under the loft for an extra bin. That allows you to keep to a Jumbo Stand. So, you'd just need the set of 6 bins above.

Do you have to put towels/carpet under the coroplast bins like you do with the cage? Or are those okay to sit on hardwood flooring?

You shouldn't need anything under the bins. They are lighter without any real change in humidity. And they'll slide out easier that way.

can this be done with a 2x4

Yes, sure. However, you'll want to put the Cavy Cafe kitchen under the loft as it will take up too much room on the opposite end. But that's preferable anyway. :)

Look under articles, and then wide loft considerations. You can see in the image above the loft is offset so it is only over the cage by one grid. The pink container is under the grid that now hangs off the cage. When you purchase the loft select yes for offset kit!,

Is the coro height on the XL cage the standard 6" height?

It's shown here in the standard 6" height, but you can choose the one you want when putting it in your cart.

I bought this cage in 2021 and it has served my evolving herd of guinea pigs really nicely over the years (only one of the original herd remains). At one point, we made it L-shaped and attached a 2x3' enclosure for a male on one end. Now, it's back to its original shape, but is 7 panels long on the bottom with the original 2x2 loft. We had 4, 5-year-old female guinea pigs and just rescued another pair (also 5-year-old females... we're running a retirement/nursing home for guinea pigs!). If it's 7x2 on the bottom with the 2x2 loft, do you think this configuration is adequate for 6, 5-year-old female guinea pigs? They're obviously not running circles around the cage and popcorning the way they were when they were younger pigs! They don't use the loft as much as I wish they would given their age. We could go 8x2 on the bottom and eliminate the loft if it makes more sense, or keep the configuration the same and add a 4x2 "play pen"-type enclosure in the front of the bins (but it would still require a ramp to get down to -- we cut a flap in the colorplast for floor time that will accommodate the ramp). Any expertise is appreciated!

A 7x2 for 5 senior females is probably okay, but still with enrichment and the ability to find their own spaces. For senior pigs, I really recommend a Patio over a full-height loft. They are half-height and much easier to get up and down. Also, for the same reason, a Lookout Lounge is a great way to go on the other end. Same half-height ramps and all guinea pigs love hanging out in the more confined lounge. I would maybe convert to a Porch Patio on one end and a Lookout Lounge on the other. If you can go with an 8-grid-long, that still works and you can even consider a Party Patio (1.5 grids wide) with a ramp on both sides toward the back and put that in the middle of the cage (https://www.cagetopia.com/lovefall-news). You'd have room for all of that, so your choice on which way to go.
